Ellen Moran - White House Communications Director

Ellen Moran Executive Director of Emily's List stated "Any opportunity to put a new pro-choice Democratic woman in Congress is an opportunity we will take a serious look at."

Emily's List in my opinion has a very troubling mission statement. "Members are dedicated to building a progressive America by electing pro-choice Democratic women to office. We believe in the power of women as candidate's as contributors, as campaign professionals, and as voters to bring about great change in our country.

When women are involved in the political process, our democracy is truly representative. (They should include pro-life conservative women also) When women make policy, the needs of women and families are not ignored. When women vote, Democrats - who share our values and priorities - win.  (Considering they mentioned pro-choice twice, we know what their priorities are themselves)

Emily's List is committed to a three-pronged strategy to elect pro-choice Democratic women: (I guess pro-life Republican women need not apply) recruiting and funding viable women candidates; helping them build and run effective campaign organizations; and mobilizing women voters to help elect progressive candidates across the nation.

Emily's List will win today and build for tomorrow. Our immediate focus is to win elections to turn back Bush Republicans and their "right-wing agenda." At the same time, we are making a long-term investment in women to develop their political skills and cultivate resources so that we can bring more women into politics and elected office. Only then can we build a progressive majority and construct a society built around equal opportunity for all, civil rights, diversity, and compassion. (Except for the unborn and right-wing pro-life people.)

By working together, we can make a difference - and change the face of American politics. (I am afraid that is true, only for the worse and not better)

Ellen Moran also worked for the AFL-CIO by going after Wal-Mart, campaigned by engaging hundred or thousands of unions members to do mailings, phone banks, and work-site visits to convince labor households and, later the public, that Wal-Mart undercuts living standards. The campaign won't call for a boycott, but labor leaders say focus group studies they've saw that some people shop elsewhere if told of Wal-Marts actions.

While I am not deciding for or against Wal-Mart but the tactics used by Ellen Moran. Is this the type of promoting she will be doing to bolster Obama's programs? Convincing us that Obama's programs are for our good and we should support Obama even if we think his decisions might be wrong.

I for one do not see Ellen Moran as a good choice for America. Obama's "inner-circle" is becoming increasingly one-sided; that would be progressive left. I haven't checked all of his appointments as of yet, but the vast majority share his liberal point of view.
