Washington State Court Sends Wrong Message

In the news states that Washington state law does not bar teachers from having sex with 18-year old students. While 18 year olds are considered adults, this should be at least a violation of ethics. Teachers could easily take advantage of young students by any number of ploys.

The legislature should write the law so that any public or private school  teacher with any student regardless of age, consent, or sexual orientation be made illegal to have sexual relations. If the student is under 18 then regard it as a sex crime, if the student is an adult, then this would be a violation of ethics.

Thankfully teachers that violate ethics code are in a small minority, it is the media that makes it sound like problems are much worse. Also safe gourds should be taken in case of false accusations for some students wishing to get back at a teacher for some reason.
