Miss California Comments on Gay Marriage
According to a FOXNews report, a judge for the Miss USA contest, asked Miss California Carrie Prejean, whether she believed in a gay marriage. Her reply "We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."
Keith Lewis, who runs the Miss California competition, told FOXNews that "As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman. I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit, I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family."
The question and the response from Lewis makes me wonder if the gay agenda is pressuring people to be less than honest with their responses to such questions. Contestants compelled into giving positive responses to questions like the one given to Miss California would be perfect propaganda for the cause. If religious and political beliefs have no place in the Miss California family then don't ask those questions if you don't want an honest answer.
I probably would have responded this way, 'I think that question is totally out of line, and does not belong in the Miss USA competition, unless you wish me to start quoting scripture to you. Do you wish for me to continue my response?

Thank you for commenting on this issue. I was stunned that the question was asked of Miss California. I believe it was designed to promote the gay agenda in California, which suffered an enormous defeat in the last election. I would say that Miss California actually represents the majority of Californians, and I applaud her courage to speak truth despite fears it would affect the outcome of the contest. I condemn the obvious contentious premise of the question given to a beauty pageant contestant. If only they would ask such tough questions of our illustrious president!

RIGHT ON ELLEN. THAT QUESTION SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ASKED. I WOULD HAVE ANSWERED IT THE SAME WAY, AND I ALSO HAVE SCRIPTURE TO QUOTE IF NEEDED.
I AM PROUD OF MS. CALIFORNIA THAT SHE BELIEVES IN HER UP-BRINGING & FAMILY VALUES.

I dislike the subject matter, only because it is an extremely sensitive one for not only all American, but other countries as well. I believe that: You are what you are. And if Gay marriage is what is important to you and the principles you live by, then by all means be happy and live your life. I don't understand what the big hype is about. The question was inappropriate for the Miss USA pageant to begin with.

The question was out of place. The CoDirector's comments inappropriate. They confirmed that it was a gay setup. In the morning. Miss California was still a beautifull and hot respected peron. Hilton was still a piece if **** ***** desparate to be a something that he can never be. He lostand she won.

Of course it was a setup, but it backfired on them. I think Perez presumed Miss California would support the homosexual agenda. I am sure he was shocked when she expressed her conservative views and stayed true to her Christian beliefs. What a beautiful intelligent young woman. I am so proud she had the courage to stand up for her beliefs. Perez is full of anger and venom, why is it wrong to express views that do not agree with his. Perez you are wrong, admit it.

A political columnist who had a piece published in our local paper tried to compare the battle of race equality with the gay agenda. They are two seperate issues. Black Americans had to fight against prejudice for their "God given" right to live as a free race. In contrast, The Gay Agenda, in opposition to what is "God given", demands that this country give them full priviliges as traditional married couples. The last time in recorded history that "gays" lived as equals in society was just before the burning of Sodom and Gamora. The First time in recorded history, homosexuals were marrying and living as couples just before the "great flood". Noah and his family was spared along with at least one "male" and one "female" of each species of animal and creeping thing. The Lord Jesus said that a sign of His return will be as in the "days of Noah". The time of Christ Jesus return is not far away. If I were in a gay lifestyle, I would think seriously about a change of lifestyle. If a person is in a gay lifestyle and wants to repent, God is certainly able to help that person to live the kind of life He meant for them in the first place. It is not too late, yet.

As far as I'm concern, the real Miss America is Miss California. She gave the correct answer and nothing can change that. If the gays want the right answer to the gay question they should have their own Gay pageant. I'm from California we're not all queer here in the Golden State. If they keep it up they are going to get a back lash from the straight people of California.
I'm tired of these pushy gays from San Francisco and West LA.

What’s REALLY ridiculous is that bigotry is STILL alive and well in this nation of ours. Carrie Prejean is just the latest in a long line of bigots who would deny people their basic civil rights simply because they dislike someone’s race, beliefs, or sexual orientation.
All unions should become Civil Unions; if individual Churches want to hold “marriage” ceremonies, that’s their right.
Memo to the so-called "God Squad": You don’t have the first idea what Jesus actually taught, or you wouldn’t be acting the way you are.

Miss California gave an honest response to the question that was asked to her.This is her own prerogative and we need to respect it.I applaud her for her courage and honesty in showing a firm and strong stand to what she believed is true and right.For me,it was an Outstanding answer.This is the word of God,that marriage is designed to a man and a woman,let us not confuse our children and let us not disobey the word of GOD.In the book of Genesis,GOD only created Adam and Eve,the first husband and wife created by GOD himself,God did not design a man to man or a woman to woman marriage.God has a perfect plan for all of us,but Satan wants to destroy GOD'S plan.Satan wants to destroy the family,our kids and our future.Let us not listen to the sweet flavor of lies injected by Satan to what everybody believe as acceptable.The truth is Satan wants to dominate the world,this has been foretold to us to be aware of what is going on in this world.GOD is coming very soon and all of us will be accountable for our own action.The pageant's controversial question will awaken everyone,That God is reminding us again to wake up and defend the real truth and teach that very truth to all our friends,relatives,love ones and our children.

This was a beauty contest and when one of the participants is exposed as horribly ugly inside then any outward beauty is completely negated. The judges were correct to eliminate her and her inner ugliness.

I comend Miss California for her answer and I am extremely proud of her. She is truly a good example for the teens of today. Sometimes standing strong for what you believe comes with a price and for Ellen it cost her the crown. If Hilton didn't want a straight answer then he shouldn't have asked the question. He also should not have brought his gay agenda into the pageant.

Perez is a genius. This exposed the far rights attempt to undermine the social interactions and liberties of a free country. This showed the deep seated hatred for gays in the country.The man is just a genius. Where does a nude streaking woman come off saying she was just being biblically correct while causing married and non married men to lust after her. I read that Jesus said he who lust after a woman in his mind is the same as an adulterer. And of course. He that breaketh one of the laws, he breaks all the laws and is subject unto the same judgement. This woman is a root of evil exposed for her gender discrimination.

One cannot justify one sin by pointing out another sin. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Perhaps through her statement the Holy Spirit brough conviction to the hearts that need salvation.
Try reading God's Gift of Salvation with an open heart and mind, it can make a huge difference in your life if you allow the Lord to do so.

I doubt that you are P. Hilton, however
Philippians 2:9-11
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, (Jesus) and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I can’t help but be amused by the hypocrisy of these comments. You herald her “right” answer because it fits into your limited view of equality and righteousness, while you denounce others for being upset. Essentially, you are saying that since you got the answer you wanted, she did good. But if she had given the answer they wanted, it would be bad.
I think the question was completely reasonable since it was about state power and not about her individual opinion about gay marriage, even though she took it as such. It is not surprising she didn’t win a competition where she maligned a whole group of people that Miss America is supposed to also represent.
The bible has been used for centuries as an excuse for hate and judgment so I’m not too surprised people feel this way. Hopefully, as the number of Christians dwindles, more secular ideas will do away with this bigoted world view.

Haven't you heralded Miss California as "wrong" because of your limited view?

I believe that each of us has his own opinion. If Perez believes in Gay Marriage and Miss California doesn't, then what's the issue. There is no right of wrong answer for this question. We just need to respect one's point of view I guess.
